In scripture, we are called many times, and in many different ways to worship the Lord with music! We strive to do that at First Friends Church, and so there are many opportunities here to get involved and use music to glorify God.

We have a blended style of worship in which we use hymns and modern praise songs every week to worship our Creator. We believe that God looks at the heart of His worshippers, rather than the style or instruments with which they praise Him. Check out the sections below to find out more about musical opportunities at First Friends and how you can get involved!

Choir

Our choir is open to anyone who has a desire for making a joyful noise unto the Lord, and they rehearse on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00! The choir sings in our 10:30 Celebration Service about twice a month throughout the season which generally spans from September to May. They are also instrumental (no pun intended) in regularly putting together Christmas and/or Easter productions, along with the drama team. Reading music is not a requirement for joining, just a commitment to Wednesday night rehearsals and Sunday mornings! We hope you’ll consider lifting up your voice with us!

Quaker Bells

Our bell choir has been directed by Kathy Gano since its founding in 1996, and they rehearse on Thursday nights throughout the season which is generally September to May. If you have some experience reading music, then perhaps you might enjoy serving alongside this spirited bunch in laughter and in worship as they make beautiful music together! The Quaker Bells have also been known to host some fabulous events, from four community Bell-a-Palooza events to the retelling of the Grinch story!
