To conclude our Welcome to the Table series, on Sunday, September 29, we will be celebrating the Mission Table aspect of discipleship. Our schedule will significantly change for that Sunday only. In place of our normal Simplicity and Celebration Services, we invite you to a combined worship and sending service at 9:00am, after which we will spend the remainder of our morning outside the church walls. These Mission Table opportunities in our community will be powerful reminders that mission-minded service is a crucial part of our worship and spiritual formation. You can find the complete list of options below. Several options are “kid friendly,” which is important because we will not be offering any childcare on that Sunday. And, there are sign-up sheets in the foyer that you can utilize today if one of our projects jumps off the page at you! (Sign up today, as sheets may be removed if a project “fills up”!) Here’s a glimpse at the projected schedule for Sunday, September 29:

• 9:00am – Brief time of singing and mission-centered devotional in the sanctuary
• 9:30am – Organize into mission project groups and depart from the church
• 11:30am – Conclusion of mission projects

It is our hope to share some pictures, videos, and testimonies from these projects on Sunday, October 6, so that we can celebrate how our church family was able to bless the Salem community! Please prayerfully consider which of these projects would be a good fit for you and then sign up today or next Sunday so that we can make the appropriate plans. See Pastor Pete, Pastor Andy, Pastor Mike, or Missional Engagement Elder Michelle Bails with any questions.

Mission Table Sunday Projects

Clothing Resource Room at The Brightside Project
Assemble racks, shelves, and bins to create an organized space for children’s clothing, then sort, fold, and hang donated children’s clothing and shoes to fill the room and bless kids in immediate need.

Nursing Home Hymn-Sing
Lift your voices and minister to those who haven’t heard a live choir sing hymns for years; think of it as Christmas caroling, but with hymns!

Salem Community Food Pantry
A “get-your-hands-dirty” project.  We will be mopping floors, scrubbing restrooms, and doing other cleaning projects indoors and out, weather permitting.

Children’s Soccer Game and Free Lunch with the Guatemalan Community
Kids ages 7-12 will enjoy a soccer game and simple lunch; help setup the field, cheer for the kids, or work in the kitchen.

Salem Beautification Project
Our friends who make Salem visually appealing year-round are looking for a crew of helping hands to remove some weeds along the curbs and sidewalks of Salem.

Artwork for Display at Buckeye Elementary
This child-friendly project will enable kids (and their parents) to work together to create positive visual inspiration for the staff and students at Buckeye Elementary.

Park Clean-Up and Connections
Our team will sweep through the park, cleaning what we can, leaving no litter left behind!  We will open our hearts to engage with the community and minister to anyone we meet while we are there.

Coffee and Snack Delivery to Emergency Services
Bless those who serve our community by bringing them snacks and coffee – as well as cards with words of appreciation and blessing.

Shut-in Visitation
As a church family, we make an effort to maintain a connection with those who cannot join us for worship and fellowship on Sunday mornings. Join this team as they visit and encourage our shut-ins.
