The Struggle is Real

Currently on Sunday mornings at First Friends, we are working through a series of sermons called “The Struggle is Real.” This series will run from Oct. 13th to Nov. 24th and will focus on a concept comes from a portion of Ephesians 6:12 – “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but… against the spiritual forces of evil.”

Over the course of seven weeks, we will be exploring passages from Scripture that explicitly mention the ways in which Satan and the “spiritual forces of evil” are manifested in the world. What we learn together will most likely be surprising. Generally speaking, our views of Satan and evil are much more heavily influenced by cartoons, medieval art, and modern movies than anything else. What does the Bible actually say about the ways that evil takes root and grows in our world? How can we better identify it, and refuse to partner with, the spiritual forces of evil that are opposed to the flourishing of humanity and the growth of the Kingdom of God? Those are the kinds of questions we’ll be dealing with and we hope that you can join us!
