We LOVE children at First Friends Church. The Mission Statement for our Children’s Ministries is Partnering with parents to lay a spiritual foundation for children that leads the entire family to a relationship with Jesus Christ.” As you browse this info, you’ll learn about the many ways that we strive to do that for every child that walks through our doors.

Sunday mornings for our children are typically scheduled like this:

epic-2

9:40am | Breakfast Bash
9:50am | Sunday School for All Ages
11:30 | Kid Connection (when dismissed from the 11:00 service prior to the sermon)

Breakfast Bash is located downstairs and immediately follows the 8:30 worship service. After students have eaten, they are dismissed to the appropriate Sunday School class. While in Sunday school, students learn about God’s Love including stories from the Bible, activities, and projects to help them remember what they are learning, and a time of prayer with their classmates and teacher.

After Sunday School, students are welcome to sit in on the beginning of the second worship service that begins at 11:00. Students will be dismissed to the chapel for Kid Connection. At Kid Connection, students will interact with each other and their teacher using Epic curriculum. Epic revolves around the common thread that is woven through all of Scriptures: God’s loving and real relationship with all peoples. Students will learn about this relationship through the Biblical stories of Creation all the way through the return of the King. Students will be encouraged to talk about and ask questions about their understanding of the Scriptures and their own personal relationship with God. It is a valuable time for students to learn about who God is and how He loves His most prized creation – all of humanity!

During the 8:30 service, our nursery is available for infants and toddlers.

During the 9:45 ABF/Sunday School hour, our nursery remains open for infants and toddlers while Sunday School is provided for all remaining children.

During the 11:00 service, nursery and child care is available for all ages, and is broken up into three groups: infants, toddlers, and PreK/Kindergarden. Children in grades 1-6 are invited to attend Kid Connection during the sermon portion of the 11:00 service.

Register below for our current season of “Friends for Christ“! FFC meets on Wednesday nights throughout the school year from 6:30pm – 8:00pm (a free meal is available at 6:00pm for any children who aren’t able to eat at home before coming to the church). Activities include interactive Bible lessons, Scripture memorization, games, crafts, rewards and MUCH more. Each month has its own theme and weekly lessons and activities will relate to the theme. If you have any questions about this new Wednesday night model, call the church office at 330-332-0001 and speak with our Children’s Ministries Director, Cheryl Woolman.

F.A.S.T. stands for Friends After School Time, and is an after-school program open to any students at the neighboring Buckeye Elementary School. Our F.A.S.T. program schedule coincides with the Salem School District Calendar, and students are invited to stay from the time school lets out until 6:00pm. F.A.S.T. has provided an opportunity for students to enjoy a snack, utilize their creative artistic abilities, practice their reading skills, and participate in both indoor and outdoor activities after the school day ends for a minimal cost of $3.00 per day.

The program is directed by Cheryl Kholos, and she would love to hear from you. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the church office (330-332-0001).

Hearts 2 Jesus is a children’s music ministry that includes singing, sign-language, and bell-ringing, and occasionally dance!

They are an active bunch performing regularly in Sunday morning services as well as at area nursing homes! They are directed by Sherry Cvelbar, and would love for you to join them! From September to June, they rehearse on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00.

We are looking forward to VBS 2018, July 16th – 18th, in the evenings from 6 – 8pm. The theme will be “Our Creator’s Creatures,” and it will be open to kids age 4 through grade 6!
Our kids will learn about our Creator God through discovering his immense creativity. We will all appreciate God’s unique designs as we consider “the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and the beasts of the field.” The same God who created all of those creatures wants a personal relationship with us! Each night, the kids will play games, complete arts and crafts, and experience a lesson. We can’t wait to show our kids how God uses animals to show His love for us.
Online registration is below!
