What are your favorite things to do?
I enjoy reading and watching TV/movies. I like a pretty wide variety of sports (basketball, soccer, softball, distance running). And, I love spending time with my wife and kids!

What might people be surprised to know about you?
I’m actually more introverted than people might expect. I love being in groups, but it tends to wear me out after awhile. My idea of a perfect “recharge” is a good book, a cup of coffee, and my comfy recliner!

What is your favorite vacation spot?
Anywhere with warm weather and a beach. Jamaica would be best, but Florida and the Carolinas are good as well.

What is your go-to coffee order?
At Dunkin Donuts: Medium coffee with cream, sugar and caramel swirl.
At Starbucks: Mocha Caramel Macchiato.
At Tim Horton’s: TBD.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
This one is easy: flying. What kid doesn’t want to be Superman at some point in childhood?!? I’d like to think I’d use the power for good, but I’d probably mostly use it to avoid waiting in traffic.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Firstly, I think this question is IMPOSSIBLE! I enjoy a wide variety of music from a lot of different eras. If I had to choose just one, it would be the first album by Jars of Clay. Not only do I love all the songs, but hearing them reminds me of a very foundational part of my life.

If you could spend the day with any notable person or celebrity, past or present, who would it be?
Other than Jesus, which would be the standard pastoral and Christian answer, I’d choose C.S. Lewis. He is my all-time favorite author. I’d love to hear more about his life stories and how he came up with some of the amazing stuff he’s written. Also, his British accent would be an added bonus. And, who knows, some of the other Inklings might show up.

If you could choose to be ANY animal, what would you be?
An eagle. And not just because it was my high school alma mater (UHS!!!). There’s just something majestic about an eagle. The ability to fly isn’t too shabby, either (see superhero question).

What is your favorite season?
Anything but winter. Snow and sub-freezing temps just make me sad. If I had to choose one, it would be spring. I love it that everything is coming back to life, people are coming out of winter hibernation, and the season on the horizon promises more warmth and sunshine.

What one household appliance could you not live without?
Does a snow-blower count? If not, I’d say our oven. But, that’s only true if my wife is around to make delicious and baked goods in it. Wait. No. Even if it’s not an “appliance,” I choose my TV remote control. How did we ever live without those?!?

Is there a particular quote that you are inspired to live by?
There are a lot of C.S. Lewis quotes I could insert here, but I’ll use one of my favorite quotes from Charles Spurgeon: “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.”

Do you have a favorite scripture verse?
I’m going to cheat and choose two. One is John 10:10 where Jesus tells us that he wants to give us life “abundantly.” The other, and the one Mandy and I chose for both our children when they were dedicated, is Micah 6:8 where we’re told that what God “requires” of us: to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God.
