What are your favorite things to do?
I love playing sports (especially volleyball), jamming with friends (and I don’t mean like raspberry jam, although I DO love raspberry jam), watching movies with my wife, Amy, and having my mind blown by the rapid growth of our daughter, Betta.
What might people be surprised to know about you?
I once got to sing “Drops of Jupiter” with Pat Monahan, the lead singer of the band Train. Although, to be fair, as soon as he came on stage, I was clearly his backup singer, but I sang “na-na-na-na” with all I had!
What is your favorite vacation spot?
My family (including aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) took many summer trips to Maine, and those memories will always be special to me. I’ll never forget seeing moose out in the wild. So cool! But I also have to give Disney World a nod here. That place is stinking fun, no matter how old you are. And the smoked turkey legs!!?? Mmmm.
What is your go-to coffee order?
I’m a coffee novice. I’m learning, trying to make my wife proud. Right now, anything with sugar. And I’m loving those iced coffees. My goodness. The gateway coffee.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would fly anywhere and everywhere if I could. That would be so much fun. I’m sure it would be a customs nightmare, but I would take lots of weekend trips to foreign countries. And Maine. And Disney World.
If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I’d have to go all the way back to one of the first CDs I owned, DC Talk’s Free At Last. In 5th grade, when I got my first drumset, I would put that CD on repeat and go to town.
If you could spend the day with any notable person or celebrity, past or present, who would it be?
I would say Jesus, but that’s probably too easy. But how awesome would that be!? Otherwise, probably Roberto Clemente.
If you could choose to be ANY animal, what would you be?
A blue whale. I’d probably quickly regret it, though. After a few hours of being gigantic and cumbersome, I’d probably want to be done. Plus, they can’t even fly. Or can they?
What is your favorite season?
Summer! My enjoyment of each season is directly proportional to its external temperature.
What one household appliance could you not live without?
This is a stretch, but in the last few years, I have grown to love my power drill. If that doesn’t count, then the dishwasher. I dislike washing dishes. Especially when you’ve been leaning up against the counter and when you’re done you find that huge horizontal wet mark on your shirt!? Ugh.
Is there a particular quote that you are inspired to live by?
Yes, allow my friend Ham Porter to present this one:
Do you have a favorite scripture verse?
I don’t have one particular verse that is my favorite, but I love the story of Joseph in Genesis. Joseph faced a lot of challenges at the hands of others, yet each time God used those events to bring about good in his life. He can do that with our lives as well, taking our circumstances and using them for His glory and His Kingdom.
